Final Blog

This will be my final blog ..*tear*. I don't think I'll remember to write on this blog again, but I know that I'm not going to delete it. It's a reminder of a couple of things that happened this year and its also a reminder of the goals I set for myself. Maybe throughout high school I'll log back on to blogger.com (if I remember my password) and I will see what I have accomplished. For now though, I have been pretty successful in reaching my goal. My grades are good. As well as my social life, but I could do better in the physical area (sports wise).
I both did and didn't like blogging for various reasons. I liked it because every time I would log on I would see my mission statement and it would be my reminder. My favorite blogs to do were the one where we had to list what our future husband/wife would be like and the list of what we're thankful for. Not only did I like actually doing that assignment, but I also liked looking at what others wrote as well. Basically the only thing I didn't like about blogging was the fact that we had to do two of them everyday and it would take me forever to think of something to write about. Otherwise I didn't think blogging was that bad. =] Bye Mrs. Payne!

Learning Style

We took a quiz today to see what learning style fits us. My results are as follows:

social: 18

aural: 16

verbal: 16

logical: 15

visual: 15

physical: 10

Solitary: 10

I wasn't that surprised by my results. I knew social and verbal would be one of my highest, I just expected that my logical one would be higher. I'm not surprised at all by the solitary learning style being one of my lowest, I'm not really the type of person who loves hanging out with myself and being anti social. So I can understand that.
I liked taking this quiz, its interesting to see how many different learning styles one person could have. I never knew aural and solitary were learning styles.

Kenny's birthday

Kenny is my brother and his birthday is on friday, December the 5th. He is turning 16, I still cant imagine that, it just seems like such a big number. He's 13 months older then me so when my birthday turns up it never seems like I got any older because Kenny was already that age. I dont really mind being the youngest despite how much I complain. Anyway his birthday party is on Saturday, so I'm going home for the weekend (MAYBE with Kenzi =]). There are going to be 10 guys there who are spending the night and going to ESPN Zone and me. Me and 10 other guys, but no worries I'm use to being around tons of guys 'since I'm practically the only girl cousin. I know them all and I love them... their hilarious and so much fun to be around. Even if Kenzi cant go (WHICH SHE BETTER =]) I know I will still have fun. So wish me luck because all though I love them their still really annoying =].

Home Leave

You know home leave is suppose to be a break from school to rest and just relax, but that never happens. Granted I get to sleep in, which is nice, but I never actually go to bed at a reasonable time. I'm always either watching TV, watching a movie or talking on the phone until 4a.m. I also never get to relax. My parents are always taking me to other peoples house to go and visit, while all I want to do is stay at home and waste time. I already told my parents that when I go home all I want to do is sleep, watch TV and movies, download music and do absolutely nothing important. I think they finally understand this, so I'm actually looking forward to the next home leave. -and I might even do some homework ... occasionally- =]

Thanks

I am thankful for:

  1. My brother because he makes me laugh and without him I wouldn't understand guys.
  2. My mom because she's weird and makes my life easier.
  3. My dad because we can joke around and make fun of each other.
  4. Mackenzi because there is never a dull moment when I am with her.
  5. Maday because she has put up with me for over five years and still calls me her sister.
  6. Kenji because he makes me happy in every little way.
  7. My dog because he wags his tail no matter whats happening.
  8. My cousins, Deryck and Kyle, because they drive me crazy and still say I love you.
  9. My school because its helping me get further in life with a good education.
  10. The dorm because if there wasn't a dorm I wouldn't be able to attend HVA.
  11. Books because I love to read.
  12. The looks God gave me because although I'm not perfect I'm content.
  13. God because without him there would be nothing.
  14. Other friends and family not previously mentioned.
  15. Food because all of it is just so yummy.. especially french fries =]
  16. Electronics because life would be more difficult without them.

and to sum it all up I am thankful for EVERYTHING =] there isn't one thing wrong with my life. Like I said I am content, and happy, and that's all that matters =]

Homework

My roommate is Jessica Gavin. She is about the best roommate ever! She doesnt complain about anything and she's very clean so we never have to worry about room check. The only problem really is me. Jess is a junior so she always has plenty of homework to keep her busy, me on the other hand barely have any homework. So when it comes around to study hall Mackenzi, Makhela and I are usually just playing around, screaming, or laughing our butts off. They always come in my room and we talk forever about everything, Jess would be lucky if she could even hear herself think sometimes. I've even noticed that sometimes she has to go out in the hall to read or something and I always feel terrible about it. I would kick Shiny (Kenzi) and Makhela out and sometimes I do, but they really like being in my room and we always have a lot of fun. We even occaisionally actually do our homework. Like last night Makhela and I read bible out loud to Mackenzi switching off every two paragraphs. This is not a plee for more homework it's just that I have realized that we dont have much homework and I appreciate that. Now Jess on the other hand may want the teachers to give us more homework, but we always have next year and the years after that to actually use our study hall time wisely.=]

renweb

This is my first year ever dealing with renweb. I have always gone to public school so they didnt use the renweb system and so I'm not use to looking at my grades online. I have to say that it is very helpful and easy. It helps to be able to look at your grades whenever you please. I have not really been using renweb to its full extent, but I do plan on doing so. I have made a sort of 'resolution' to look at renweb every two days to keep up with my grades and any homework I may not know about. This resolution starts today! =]

Work

As many of you know, I work for Mr. V and despite what he might think I love my job. It's a lot of fun and he's the best boss (just don't tell him that). I usually just grade papers, put them on renweb and put them away. It's pretty simple actually plus he feeds me so it helps me work harder *cough* *cough*. Even though I complain and make fun of Mr. V a lot I wouldn't want to work anywhere else =]. I'm very content with my job, he takes Kenji and I out to eat sometimes and is super nice to us. There is never a dull moment when I'm working (specially when Kenzi or Dani are in there =]), my work partner is great =] and I still get payed. It's the best kind of work there is.

Win- Win

Well, the past weekend Kenzi, Dan, Kenji and I all wanted to go out. We already said that we would go out on Sunday to the mall and then to Mrs. Tydings house to watch "Disturbia", but the only problem was that Mrs. West said that we had to be back at 7:30pm for worship. There was no way we were coming back that early when we were only leaving at 3:30 in the afternoon and we wanted to be with them longer than that. So we made a deal with Mrs. West, we would go out an hour earlier, like at 2:30pm, if she would let us stay out until 8:30pm and come back for study hall. It ended up working out, we were all happy. We got to spend more time with them and we were still back in time for study hall and chores.
Yay =]

p.s. We had a great time *wink* *wink*.

Kenny's Sister

That is a term I have heard all my life! It was like people thought that was my name, I wasn't Karen I was Kenny's sister. The worst part of it was the high expectations and impression of who I was to be. For those of you who don't know my brother he's practically perfect, straight A's, favorite child, favorite student, loved by ALL! It's torture going through life knowing you can never be that good ... so why try? =] and that is why I am the way I am. It's because I decided to stop try and be better than my brother and just be myself. So if you think I'm perfect .. you should really meet my brother, Kenny Tejeda. That is why I'm rebellious and so out spoken, it's because Kenny isn't rebellious and he's quiet and I wouldn't be able to stand being that way, it's just not me. On the first day of 6th grade my science teacher practically fell out of her chair when she found out that I was Kenny's sister because he was her favorite and she just absolutely loved him.. that day forward I swore I would be the loudest and most talkative person in the class.. and I was. =] Now, thank the Lord, I don't have to go through that because my brother never went to HVA, now I can start my own life as Karen Lilia Tejeda.

Best Friend

MacKenzi "Shiny" Hall .....
We instantly clicked on the first day.
We ended up having much in common.
She was one of the main people who understood me
because we came from similar situations.
Then we ended up getting really really close.
We can read each others minds.
We think the same things.
We can talk with our eyes and with two word phrases (which really annoys Kenji and Dan =])

I tell her basically everything.
She knows me more then anyone here.
We can talk forever about absolutely nothing
and I'm pretty sure we've laughed until we cried about 20 times =]

She makes me cry with laughter.
She makes me frustrated because she all ways has to go against what I'm saying.
She makes me laugh because of our stupidity,
but she makes me happy because I'm never alone

and that's why she is my best friend. She makes me angry, happy, and sad all at the same time. She makes getting through high school -which is basically my whole mission statement- a lot more fun and easy. We can talk about anything and every little random thing.

I LOVE YOU Shiny .. your ze bestest friend!

TV

My favorite thing to do on my spare time is to watch TV and movies. I love CSI (all of them), Law and Order (all of them), but I also like the TV shows like Ex List, and Greys Anatomy, Friends and Private Practice. Basically anything that has that sorta love thing, buts funny and kinda gross at times with the dead bodies and stuff.

No I dont believe this has anything to do with my mission statement, but I also dont believe its a waste of time. I do actually learn stuff from the CSI shows and the doctor type show, granted its not the most (or second most) educational show of all, but it is entertaining. Plus its not like I watch TV as much because we arent allowed to in the dorm. So for me watching TV is like a priviledge now, but I'm addicted to watching TV and if you gave me that priviledge I would probably abuse it =]

Science

Now let me just first say that I have no problem with Mrs. Barizo I just happen to have a problem with science.
I cant ever seem to pass any of the test or quizzes... it really irritates me.
I read everything she tells me to read, but it just doesn't stick to me because I don't care.
I don't care about molecules or biospheres.
I'm sorry, but I don't.
I wish I did care about how the Earth came to be and whats in it.
I don't learn from reading and taking tests.
I learn more hands on and interactive activities.
And although I have an A in her class, its a low A.
I'm shooting for a 4.0 and science is bringing my GPA down and its really getting me mad because its not my fault that I learn differently then how is taught.
But I've decided to just try harder.
I've decided to try and improve my reading and comprehension skills in science.
I'm going to try and hopefully that's good enough =]

Nerd ALERT!!

Yes, I know I'm a nerd. I've been a nerd since forever. Before Maryland I lived in Harrison, New Jersey. I was one of the smartest kids in my class. I got really good grades, but then I moved to
Maryland in third grade and everything got about ten times harder. I went from getting A's to C's. The curriculum got much harder and I had to work to bring up my grades. By fifth grade I was moved up to GT (gifted and talented) math and got back my straight A's never again getting anything lower then an A on my report card. I once again regained my smart kid, nerd status. In sixth grade I was moved up to all GT classes which was a bit challenging and remained in all GT classes throughout middle school. That means that each year I would learn what the year above me was learning, so last year I already learned and earned some credits for ninth grade. That's why most of the stuff is really simple for me and that's why I'm able to take some classes that others can not. So yes I understand that I am a little more advanced then others and yes I know I'm a big nerd, but next time you say that I hope you'll remember all the hard work and effort it took me to get there. I didn't just wake up one day and "boom" I obtained all this knowledge, it actually took some time. I had the brain power I just had to find the right way to use it all. So you can call me a nerd all you want, it doesn't hurt my feelings, I'm proud of my hard work and accomplishments! =]

Sports

Those of you who don't already know this, this year is my first year of sports. Yes, I have done swimming, ballet, and karate before, but I have never done an actually school sport. This is my first year on an actual team and I'm really enjoying it. It's also my first year competing against other teams and I love the thrill and excitement that comes with it. I liked being cheered on by my class mates and scoring a point. Right now I play volleyball for the junior varsity, I'm trying out for soccer in the spring and I plan to be practicing with the baseball team. Today was our last official practice for volleyball with only a couple games left and I'm going to truly miss it, the girls, the games and yes even wearing the uniform and feeling like part of the team. I am definitely trying out for sports again next year and for years to come. I thank the coaches and all the volleyball girls for making my first experience a great one. =]

Future Husband

In the future I do want to get married and have kids, but in order for me to do that I need to find my "perfect" man or husband. Here is a list of certain qualities i would like him to have:
  1. he absolutely positively has to love me for me and for my family

  2. he has to be really sweet and charming

  3. he has to be able to make me laugh whenever I don't even feel like smiling

  4. he has to be someone I can trust

  5. he has to be honest
  6. he has to be able to forgive because I do make a lot of mistakes

  7. he has to be good looking enough to give me butterflies in my stomach every time he walks in a room

  8. he has to be a good and loving father

  9. makes me a better person

  10. he has to be understanding of my problems and love me even though I have those problems.

and most of all he has to make me happy to be alive because I'm with him! =]

I truly hope God will grant me the man of my dreams and the one he created when thinking of me.

"Marriage is an alliance entered into by a man who can't sleep with the window shut, and a woman who can't sleep with the window open." ~George Bernard Shaw

"I love being married. It's so great to find that one special person you want to annoy for the rest of your life." ~Rita Rudner

Bad Experience

Most people don't believe when I say that I've had tons of bad experience. their always like "No a goody good like you doesn't get in trouble", but then of course they get to know me =]. Even though I've had my fair share of bad experiences I learned a lot from one in particular. It was in the middle of 7th grade and I was in Social Studies or History class. Now you have to take into consideration that by then everyone knew I wasn't all that good because of all the pranks we had pulled on my Social Studies teacher, and I will admit I came up with some of them and was kind of the 'leader'. Anyway, we were in class and this boy named Dante sat in front of me. For once in my life I absolutely did not feel like doing the work assigned so I asked Dante if I could copy off of him since for once in his life he actually did the assignment on his own without my help. Yep, it didn't turn out very good, the teacher caught me and looking back on it the punishment wasn't bad at all compared to what she could have done. All she did was assign me and Dante to write an essay on why cheated is bad and get it signed by our parents. She did that when she could have easily suspended me, but at the time I didn't know how merciful she was actually being. Yes I was a bad child, but I had never actually gone to the principle's office and gotten yelled at, so I was deathly afraid of what was going to happen to me. When nothing further than the essay happened I learned that cheated wasn't worth it at all. I learned to not depend on other's knowledge but my own and I now thank that teacher (even though I still don't like her very much) because she taught me a valuable lesson. I also learned to deal with the consequences and don't fight them, I mean I was the one who got myself in trouble so I should have just owned up to what I did and dealt with the consequences. Now I don't cheat, I get help... theres a difference.

Week After Week

Every Saturday, for as long as I can remember, my parents would take me to church.

I would sit on the pew right beside my parents trying not to make a sound.

I would look around and realize that everyone was looking intently at the speaker.

I would stare at him as well, wondering if what he was saying would just seek into my brain and i would somehow understand.

It didn't work.

I would look and look some more, but nothing ...

What was he saying?

Who are all those people?

What exactly is going on?

I don't know.

I turned to my parents and tried to ask them questions, but their answers would just lead to more questions.

I knew they were trying to pay attention so I didn't want to disrupt them with even more questions.

I ended up just thinking to myself and not asking any more questions.

So I sunk back down in my seat and played tic-tack-toe with my brother.

We would draw things and laugh not paying one bit of attention to the preacher.

This always happened when we went to church.

Every Saturday, week after week.

I never got anything out of the church services even though my parents would try to explain to me what was going on, I never really showed any interest in God because I didn't understand.

Somehow I'm still stuck in that stage of my life.

I hear the words coming out of the preachers mouth (in English, Spanish and Portuguese) yet I don't seem to grasp a single sound.

That is why one of the many things I would like to accomplish this year is understanding God and his plans for me.

I want to care.

For God.

For me.

Quotes

First let me just say that i don't agree with all these quotes. Some i don't agree with at all but they were interesting. So what do you think?

"The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure curiosity."
-Dorothy Parker

"I'm tired of all this nonsense about beauty being only skin-deep. That's deep enough. What do you want, an adorable pancreas?"
-Jean Kerr

"Just because you are blind, and unable to see my beauty doesn't mean it does not exist. "
-Margaret Cho

"Common sense is the collection of prejudices acquired by the age eighteen."
-Albert Einstein

"Stupid is forever, ignorance can be fixed."
-Don Wood

"Good communication is as stimulating as black coffee and just as hard to sleep after."
-Anne Morrow Lindbergh

"I would not know what the spirit of a philosopher might wish more to be than a good dancer."
-Friedrich Nietzsche

"Almost nobody dances sober, unless they happen to be insane."

-H.P. Lovecraft

"Life is something that happens when you can't get to sleep."

-Fran Lebowitz

I'm officially adding one more thing to my mission statement.. that is to be more accepting of others opinions and thoughts and to not always think that I'm right.. although sometimes I really am. :] So of course I don't agree with all of these quotes (especially the one about the adorable pancreas), but at least I'm trying to understand others points of view and hopefully all of you will too.

Can't Please Everyone

If there is one thing that I have learned it's that you can't please everyone.
Although I have made one of my personal goals to not have anyone hate me, I'm not going to stress out if some people don't like me.
Most people don't even have a good reason to not like me, they just get the idea that I'm not a good person.
Some don't even bother to get to know me, which is fine, its their choice, but just don't say you dislike me when you don't even know me.
Now if you knew me and still disliked me then too bad, I'm sorry I don't meet your standards just don't expect me to change,
because I am who I am if you like it or not.
